Cind'eriel by TwilitWolf Cind'eriel by TwilitWolf
This was meant to be done hours ago, why is it 7:30am
Why

Anyway, Cind'eriel! First colour artwork of her in my gallery <3
Her name, Cind'eriel, actually came after and was based on the nickname she earned while I was designing her - Cinders. The nickname was pulled from the colour of her hair - bright against charcoal grey c:

No official ref yet, but for those interested she has a temporary one on my tumblr: [link]
The watermark on that is no longer accurate for my art tumblr now! My art tumblr is: [link]

Uploading this anywhere else can wait 'til tomorrow. I have pretty things in my inbox to comment on too, but sleep calls
Like, REALLY calls oh god

And they are lovely colours together. Love the contrast of her mouth as well.

that's so cool ^^

actually, I have a few simple questions, if you don't mind!

What kind of brushes do you commonly use for painting and what is a good size for the canvas?

And how do you shade like this? 'tis beautiful X3

Of course I don't mind!
I mostly use a flat brush - very basic, but it does the job! I have 3 main brushes that I'm currently using, so if you're interested I'll be more than happy to share the settings for you to try out c:
As for canvas size, I usually pick Sai's A4 option at 300dpi, which I may end up cropping to a better size once I finish a sketch. That size or even higher works really well!

The shading is done with layers at first, then I paint it over. I have the flat colour for the character, then I use a mix of multiply, luminosity, overlay and lumi + shade layers to get the colours I want on top! Which layers I use and the opacity I set them at can vary, it just depends on what I think looks good to me.
If it helps, there's a wip post of one of my bust commissions here: [link]
I used the same method with that as I did for Cinders, so hopefully that'll help you a little c:
